American Freestyle Hapkido

Welcome to American Freestyle Hapkido!

American Freestyle Hapkido was developed by Grandmaster Dr. Buzz Mingin, a lifetime martial arts practitioner and competitor. Dr. Buzz is also the director and president of World Karate Studio, which has been in existence since 1991. It was Dr. Buzz’s effort to create a system of competition that was fast-moving, full contact, and high intensity, with a strong standing and submission game. It was also a goal to have all competitors develop a strong standing game with power kicks and punches.

In addition, AFH competition does not have to be interrupted by having judges award points for each competitor’s punch or kick successfully landed. It is also a goal of AFH to encourage competitors to remain standing while utilizing an arsenal of comprehensive offensive and defensive techniques. This concept was developed similarly to the philosophy of self-defense, where one does not have 2-5 minutes to grapple on the floor in a sometimes crisis situation, but rather compete or protect in a matter of seconds. Therefore, AFH competitors are compelled to execute submissions quickly, efficiently, and accurately in order to secure a win.

AFH competitions maintain a traditional culture of the Asian martial arts while employing an Americanized influence, as well. Overall, AFH is a competitive experience of technique, skill, endurance, and tenacity.

To avoid all the hustle of a Blockbuster, we were going to aim for the following weekend on June 20, 2015 (Saturday). The Movie Theater will be AMC Marlton 8, we'll be aiming for a Matinee well after Saturday Classes end.Due to the nature of Marlton 8 and their ticket pre-orders, I'll be asking for a specified "sign up" date to be determined soon before ordering tickets as they tend to go quickly. Payment for tickets will be accepted night of, seating will be assigned once final attendance is made. Jurassic World has a PG-13 rating and runs at 1 hr. and 57 mins.Once the showtime and "Sign up" date are specified please revert back on this email or approach me during Karate Class. Questions or concerns, once more, revert back to this email or approach during class. I'll send updates out as time progresses.Sincerely,Sensei Rick Marcario.Sent from my iPhone

AFH Fight Club is a once-per-month training session where American Freestyle Hapkido is taught and practiced at the World Karate Studio Headquarters. On this unique and inspiring training day, AFH is taught by AFH practitioners and invites outside practitioners to join in the training so all attendees can experience the thrill of learning how to full-contact fight. Although various styles and disciplines of martial arts come together to an AFH Fight Club day with differing philosophies, AFH Fight Club's goal is to teach the tools and techniques of AFH within the rules of the AFH competition so all practitioners can become proficient in full contact competition.
